The New Collective 2016 is a survey of the diverse practices by 43 artists in the region, ranging from painting and printmaking to sculpture and mixed media. It is presented by the Guild Exhibition Committee of PF/PCA and was open to all guild artists of each of the seven affiliated guilds of PCA: Craftsmen Guild of Pittsburgh, Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh, Group A, Pittsburgh Print Group, Pittsburgh Society of Artists, Society of Sculptors, and Women of Visions, Inc.
The jurors are Alexandra Oliver and Rick Landesberg. Alexandra earned her Ph.D. in Art History at the University of Pittsburgh. As an active art critic, she has written extensively on contemporary art and culture in Pittsburgh, including as a blogger for Pittsburgh Articulate. She co-organized the Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon and currently works as the Research and Development Manager at Radiant Hall Studios, Lawrenceville. Rick is the principal and founder of Landesberg Design and a painter. He has lectured on design issues nationally and abroad, and has judged the Communication Arts Design Annual competition. He is a member and fellow of AIGA, the professional association for design.
