The work included in this exhibition can be best described as multimedia sculpture. The
pieces are comprised of a variety of techniques and materials employed for both structural
and conceptual concerns. Across the body of work fabricated steel elements serve as the
structure that ties all of the work together. The varied elements and techniques include;
paper embossments, screen printing, slip cast porcelain, woodworking, cast plastic, cast
rubber, aluminum, and blown glass. All of the works contain meticulously hand painted
elements.

About the Artist

Jason Lee is currently an Associate Professor of Sculpture and Foundations Coordinator in the
School of Art and Design at West Virginia University in Morgantown. Jason spent the 80’s
skateboarding the desolate streets of Akron and going to all ages shows at the infamous JB’s
Down in Kent Ohio. Through the late 80’s and early 90’s he became a part of the vibrant local
music scene, making flyers, organizing house shows for out of town bands and as a general
purveyor of chaos. Lee was born in 1969 in Goldsboro, NC. He received his BFA from Kent State
University in 1993 and his MFA from University of Wisconsin Madison in 1998. Jason Lee’s work
has been exhibited at MOCA Cleveland Ohio, UB Anderson Gallery Buffalo, NY, NOLA
Contemporary Art Museum. New Orleans, LA, Arlington Arts Center, Arlington, VA, Madison Art
Center. Madison, WI and many other venues beginning in 1999.
