Gallery Engagment

The Gallery Engagement group visit option encourages students to respond creatively to their observations of artwork on view in our contemporary galleries. We'll engage your group in inquiry-based discussion, and sketching or writing exercises in the exhibition and then move to one of our studios so that students can respond to their gallery experiences by participating in a hands-on art activity. Groups may choose to work in 2D media including drawing, painting, printmaking and mixed media collage. Here are just some examples of projects we can offer that we can offer through Gallery Engagements

Printmaking

Price: $150 for 1-10 students; $10 per student for each additional student

Students will create monoprints by transferring an image from plexi-glass to paper by utilizing our industrial strength printing presses. The resulting are painterly with interesting textures and surface effects. Fun, accessible and great for young artists, this process results in fantastic 2D works of art.

Exploring Mixed Media

Price: $150 for 1-10 students; $10 per student for each additional student

Students will combine a variety of techniques such as drawing, painting, and collage to create exciting works of art. In addition to building on themes from the galleries, students will focus on composition, balance, color and shape.

Art Journaling

Price: $150 for 1-10 students; $10 per student for each additional student

Students will explore an artwork in PCA’s galleries through multiple means of observation and understanding including discussion, sketching and writing. The group will discuss clues in the artwork that help tell a story such as where the work was made, what the work might be about, who the artist is, etc. After brainstorming with classmates, students will use drawing and a written piece such a narrative, poem or play to communicate his or her ideas.
