Pittsburgh Society of Artists 50th Annual - 1965-2015

The Pittsburgh Society of Artists (PSA) is proud to present its 50th annual exhibition at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts (PCA).  This juried exhibition showcases the best work of the Pittsburgh Society of Artists. Jurors Petra Fallaux and Patricia Maurides selected 54 pieces for exhibition by 47 artists.  200 artworks were submitted by 106 member artists in all mediums.

At 350 members PSA is the largest of 5 guilds associated with the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. Members include contemporary artists, traditional artists and everything in between working in all media. The mission of Pittsburgh Society of Artists is to support and encourage artist members by promoting the exhibition of original art and developing their talents by presenting educational and art related programs. Pittsburgh Society of Artists is an all-volunteer artist organization that is committed to having a diverse membership selected by a juried screening without prejudice against any race, ethnic background, political, religious or sexual preference.

Serving as Jurors for this exhibit are Petra Fallaux and Patricia Maurides.

Petra Fallaux directed Carnegie Mellon University’s Art Galleries for over a decade. Her tenure at Carnegie Mellon included the founding and building of the new 10,000 square foot Regina Gouger Miller Gallery. She has curated well over 100 exhibitions in 2D and 3D media ranging from paintings, prints, photography, sculpture, video, architecture, communication, industrial and theatrical design to multimedia and site specific installations.

Patricia Maurides is a visual artist and adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University. She teaches photography and a range of courses that bridge the fine arts and natural/social sciences. Patricia curated the 2014 exhibition, "Neurons and Other Memories - Work In and Around the Brain" at the Miller Gallery, Carnegie Mellon University.
