Mayor Bill Peduto and the Pittsburgh City Council have proclaimed August 1 to be "Ron Donoughe Day", in recognition of Ron’s 90 Pittsburgh Neighborhoods project. Ron’s paintings of each city neighborhood resulted in an art exhibition and book, creating what he describes as a “visual love letter to the people of Pittsburgh” that captures the essence of community. As part of this declaration, the PCA Galleries are showing an exhibition of work by Ron, entitled Pittsburgh Scenes.
Ron says, "Making work that documents the city of Pittsburgh is my passion. Many of the paintings in this exhibition were completed just a few blocks from my studio. I’m digging deeper into how the inner city feels, not just how it looks. I want the viewer to feel like they are a part of a special moment, the moment when a particular time and place inspired a painting."
